Attain Maturity – By Pastor David Okoye

Share this story:
maturity

”When I was an
infant at my mother’s breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When
I grew up, I left those infant ways for good” (1 Corinthians 13:11)
(MSG)

The King James Version of the Holy Bible renders our
opening text as: “when I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood
as a child, I thought as a child…”

From this we are brought to the
knowledge of two realities. The first of which is that the level of
maturity that a God child has attained is seen in his WORDS,
UNDERSTANDING AND THOUGHT PATTERN.

This means that an immature child of
God’s speech, understanding and thought line will always be at variance
with the word of God. The second reality we are brought into through the
King James rendering of our opening text is that, the immature child of
God is one who speaks first before he understands and thinks. This can
be said to be the peak of immaturity, when a man talks before
understanding and thinking.

Attain maturity by thinking on the
word of God (pondering on it: meditation), understanding that all His
words concerning you are true and sure, and as this becomes your
mind-set, speak in accordance to it and bask in its victory.

The
apostles tell us that, they believed and so they were enabled to speak
(2 Corinthians 4:13). This belief only comes when we have completed this
three step process of: thinking, understanding then speaking.

Put away childishness. Irrespective of how long you feel you’ve been in
church, if your life is contrary to this laid out pattern by God’s
word, there’s still more to do. Attain maturity and put away
childishness.

DECLARATION:
I am inspired by God’s word, and
it daily grants me spiritual understanding, into the knowledge of all
things that have been made available for me, therefore my communication
is perfect and I speak rightly.
