Wednesday Daily Devotional By Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Diet 2nd November 2016) – A Higher Calling

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with such great a cloud of witnesses, let us put aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us: and let us run with patience the race that is set before us” Hebrews 12:1

Many of God’s children as they ponder on the miracles God wrought by the hands of Moses (how he parted the sea, challenged and defeated Pharaoh, fed the children of Israel and interacted one on one with God) begin to wish and wonder if this could be their story.

Some others as they hear of the feats of Sampson, or the wisdom of Solomon just believe without any doubt that they are not special enough, or powerful enough to be so on fire for the Lord in that manner.

This notion however is not true by the standard of the Word of God.

Our opening text today reiterates for every God-child, the reality of his life “Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us Christ Jesus before the world began” 2 Timothy 1:9.

Did you see that? Your qualification for the Zoe life is not a function of you; it is a function of the One who has called you. It is not a you factor but a God factor. This means that your abilities, capabilities and personality do not matter to God and neither is it a factor in your calling. What matters are the abilities, capabilities and personality of the Spirit of God in you.

Realize that as a child of God, you have already been given everything that pertains to life and Godliness. The Father would not have gifted you if you were not worthy. Your refusal to accept this fact will not make it any less true, but it will hinder you from being all that God has called you to be. God seeks to show through you, the very essence of Himself. 1 Corinthians 2:7 tells “but rather what we are setting forth is a wisdom of God once hidden [from the human understanding] and now revealed to us by God-[that wisdom] which God devised and decreed before the ages for our glorification [to lift us into the glory of his presence].”

The ASV renders the underlined part as “which God foreordained before the worlds unto our glory.” Recognize today that there is a life preordained for you. Walk in this light today.
