Sunday Daily Devotional By Pastor David Okoye (Ambaasadors Diet November 20th 2016) – Engage Your Tongue

“For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.” James 3:2

Take a look at Jesus; He won all the battles of His life. When He was tempted in the wilderness by the devil, He was victorious because of the Words He spoke. The power of God lies in His words.

The world we live in was framed by the Word of God.

There is a connection between your words and the world you live in. The world was molded out of the Word of God. Everything on earth is subject to the Word of God.

Our opening text shows that a man perfect if he does not offend in his word. If a man can control his tongue, he has complete dominion over himself, as much as a man has over a horse by the bit, or as a steersman has over a ship if he has hold of the rudder.

He is perfect in the sense that he has complete control over himself, and will not be liable to error in anything.

Words are Spirits.

When you speak out words, you produce Spirits that leave for that purpose for which you said. If nothing on earth gets your life, your words will.

A child of God needs to get above the realms of feelings. He does not say what he feels; he says what he wants because he knows the power that lies in his words.

Talk what you believe based on the Word of God.

Looking at Ephesians 6:10-17 (emphasis on verse 17), we see that God did not give us too many weapons to attack the devil: He gave us just the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.

The word tongue is derived from the Greek Word ‘stoma‘ which means the edge of the sword. A Christian that does not use the sword of the Spirit would remain a defensive Christian.

Being on the defensive is not a good tactic. The only way you use the Sword (that is, the only way to attack) is by your words.

When you engage your tongue with the Word of God, you attack the devil. A man can attain victory if He is skillful with the Sword of the Spirit. That is, if he knows how to engage his tongue well with the Word of God.

The much a man is in life depends on how much he has engaged his tongue. You cannot live beyond your words.

Your words guide and lead your life. You create the world you want with your words. As Sons of God, you do not need to see it to say it; you say it to see it.

The Word of God is powerful and dynamic; it has the ability to cause a tremendous change in the life of a man. You have all you need to create your world: get your tongue engaged with the Word of God.

DECLARATION
I engage my tongue with the Word of God. I speak God’s Word about me daily. I do
not see it to say it, I say it to see it.
