“And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” – Matthew 4:19

The MSG rendering of Matthew 4:19 says,

“Jesus said to them, “Come with me. I’ll make a new kind of fisherman out of you. I’ll show you how to catch men and women instead of perch and bass.”

For you to be an effective soul winner, you have first got to understand what it means to be a fisher of men.

When you study a fisherman, you see that he can either scare or attract fishes in the water. He could also attract them but still not catch them.

It takes a skilled fisherman (one who is dynamic) to catch a fish. A skilled fisherman knows what food he’ll use as bait for the species of fish he wants to catch. This is how you should approach soul winning.

Men are like fishes, you have got to know what is needed for a particular soul as you try to win him/her for the Lord.
Soul wining is not a guess work. It is labor.
Oh! Little wonder Apostle Paul said in Galatians 4:19

“My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you.”

Souls have to be planted; cultivated and harvested. Sadly, not everyone has the patience to win a soul.
The ability to win a soul lies on God’s Spirit. Understand this, the Spirit of God grants the supply to help your soul winning activity; it is not in His place to win a soul. God has given you help, so you would be fruitful. You cannot be an effective soul winner without the Spirit of God.
A soul winner beats every limitation hell presents. A soul winner is focused and targeted.
Have the right heart for souls.
A soul winner spirit sees possibility in everything. He always sees a need for the Gospel in every man that is yet to be saved. When you have a soul winner spirit, you would see your souls as food. If you do not plant, cultivate and harvest, you will die of starvation.
Do not go a day without winning a soul for Christ. Show someone the need for Christ in his life today. Remember, God has committed the ministry of reconciliation into your hands.

I am a diligent soul winner. I have the heart and Spirit of a soul winner. I would not keep silent; I will spread the gospel to all.
Matthew 22:14, Matthew 28:18-20
