Monday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Diet, June 12th, 2017) – Navigate your life

Share this story:

“Behold also the ships, which though [they be] so great, and [are] driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.” James 3:4

Have you ever seen a ship or have you ever boarded one? If you have, you’ll see that no matter how gargantuan that ship is, it is controlled by a very little helm (rudder or wheel).

The proceeding verse of our opening text says,

“Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!”

Your life is the ship and your tongue is the helm. However and wherever you want your life to turn to, you have been given the instrument to enable you achieve that. It lies in your tongue.

Proverbs 18:20-21 says,

“A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; [and] with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

The words you speak with your tongue are powerful enough to alter or configure the cycle of man’s nature. Any word you speak that is contrary to the Word of God on your life, has the ability to breach what the Word of God has already configured in your life. Your level of success in life is determined by how much of God’s Word you have discovered and spoken.

The words you speak have the ability to give your life form. These words can also deform your life. John 6:63 says,

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life.”

Words are Spirits. As you speak, you called forth a Spirit that goes to actualize the Word you have spoken.

Your success or failure lies in your tongue.

Where a man would be in 10 years can be traced by the words he has been speaking. Start declaring the things you want for life today based on God’s Word, you might not see them manifest immediately but be constant with your declarations.

Avoid negative talking; your future depends on it. Your words at all times ought to be based on what God says.

I do not talk negative. I speak the right things at all times. I use my tongue rightly.

Psalms 45:1-2, 8:2, Matthew 21:16-21
