“…he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.” Matthew 14:29-30

When our Lord Jesus asked Peter to ‘come’ at Peter’s request, the scriptures make it known that Peter walked on the water.

As he took steps of Faith toward the Word of God spoken to him, and Focusing on the Lord Jesus, Peter actually walked on water while the rest of the disciples looked on; suddenly, the water was solid enough to carry him: but as soon as he turned his attention away from the Lord and His Word, his human mind took a hold of him. He began to realize that this was water he was walking on; he was doing the impossible.

You see, Peter had a lot of experience with water as a fisher man, he had been on the ocean long enough to know the damages the winds and waves can cause. And as he began to acknowledge the boisterous winds, he began to fear and started to sink.

This is what happens to a lot of God’s children; as they hear the Word of God and take steps of faith, they begin to consider the system and customs of the world, and start to fear.

They begin to consider how truly gruesome that cancer is, or how bad the economy is, or how disadvantaged they are in life; they begin to fear and start to sink.

Because, they have a lot of financial or medical experience, they can no longer stand strong in Faith. They convince themselves, that is not how the real world works. Who determines what is real or not for you? You see, your convictions matter in your life; because you eventually become what you think.

Now, we’ve got to understand and imprint in our minds Hebrews 12:2 that says…

“…looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…”.

The success of your Christian life is dependent on your continual focus on God. If your eyes are not fixed on Jesus, then they are fixed elsewhere.

Hebrews 12:2 AMP makes this clearer –

“…looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus…”

The boisterous winds will show up; but they can only bring you down when you pay attention to it. These winds could come in form of friends, enemies, social media, cares of this life, etc. – but you must refuse to be distracted.

The man on a mission who can’t be defeated is the one who has his mind set only on the mission. The Word of God should be your focus every step of the way.

DECLARATION:
I will keep my mind stayed on the Word. I will finish my course and will accomplish every mission I set out to do.

SCRIPTURAL REFERENCE:
Acts 20:24; Hebrews 12:1-3 (AMP)
