“Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.” Proverbs 7:2
The MSG translation of the text above reads thus:
“Do what I say and you’ll live well. My teaching is as precious as your eye sight – guard it!”
Many have become too familiar with the Word that they disregard or take for granted its usefulness in their lives. God’s Word should be as precious and as important to you as your eyesight.

This implies that the same attention and protection you would give your eyes, is the same you ought to give to God’s Word in your life – even in a greater capacity.
The pupil of the eye is the essence of your sight; without it you are as good as blind. The Word of God in your life is compared to the pupil of your eyes. Spiritually, the Word of God is the center point of your direction in life. It gives you insight into the life you have been called to live. When you lose the Word of God, you automatically lose sight and direction in life. Little wonder, the MSG translation admonishes that we guard it!
Guarding the Word means taking conscious steps to keep the Word at work in you.
It spurs the need to place the Word within the reach of your senses. It is imperative to know that your prosperity is imbedded in the Word; it is the will of God in print. Thus, if you lose the Word, you’ve lost the very essence of your being.
We are to love, esteem and guard God’s Word in our lives, in the same capacity we expect God to love us [the apple of His eyes].
Do all you can to study and keep God’s Word in your heart daily; you’d surely live well.
DECLARATION:
I live well because I esteem and guard God’s word in my life. I keep His word and will never lose direction.
