“Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as men pleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” Colossians 3:22-23

The proceeding verse of our opening text says,

“Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”

So many Christians believe that serving God is a difficult thing to do. They believe that because they can’t see God, it is impossible to serve Him effectively. Instead of serving right, they offer to Him superficial service; that is, eye service.

God seeks for those who would serve Him with singleness of heart.

He seeks for those who would give Him heartfelt service.

A true servant always strives to please his master. His joy comes from the satisfaction of His Master. In our service to God, we are to obey ALL things without any reservations whatsoever.

The duty of servants is summed up in one word, obedience.

Without obedience, it is impossible to serve right.

In serving right, you are to be sincere; not pretending obedience when you mean to disobey, but serving faithfully.

Do not offer eyeservice.

That is, do not serve because your master’s eye is upon you.

Ephesians 6:5-7 says,

“Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as men pleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men”

Until the one you serve accepts the service rendered to him, you are yet to serve. Never serve because you are anticipating a form of gratitude.

Scripture admonishes us to serve with singleness of hearts that is; purity of heart without guile, bitterness or anger. Titus 2:9 says,

“Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again”.

Learn to offer reasonable service.

DECLARATION:
I am a selfless servant. I offer reasonable service at all times. I have an obedient Spirit!
