“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.” 2 Timothy 1:6
The Spirit of God is a gift to those who believe in Christ.
When a man gives a gift, he does so not because the recipient deserves it, but because the giver deemed him worthy to receive the gift.
So many believers have the Spirit but have made Him dormant in them. One of the ways to stir up the Holy Spirit is by fellowshipping with the Spirit.
The word fellowship means an association with two or more people that gives them a common interest. The Greek word for fellowship is called koinônia. It means 3 things:
- Intercourse
- Communion
- Transportation

Having fellowship with the Holy Ghost is the most important thing a Christian should do. This is because as you fellowship with Him, He reveals more about the life of the Spirit and the New Creation life that you have been called into.
As a matter of fact, a man that does not fellowship with the Spirit does not have a Christian life.
It is often said that couples tend to look alike after living with themselves for a long period of time. This is as a result of the constant fellowship they have. As you begin to fellowship with God’s Spirit continuously, it gets to a point where you become interwoven with Him. That is, you become one with God.
This would only happen through constant fellowship with Him. The Spirit of God is more eager to fellowship with you than you with Him. Why? This is because He is TALK-ACTIVE and cannot wait to reveal the mind of the Father to you.
When you stir Him up, He explodes in you. You have been given all you need to prosper in life; you have the Word of God and you have also received the Spirit of God.
DECLARATION:
I constantly stir up the Spirit of God in me. I give myself to fellowshipping with the Word and with the Spirit.
