Friday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 8th SEPT, 2017) – You can’t blend in

“If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” John 15:19

So many Christians live in error and they are unaware of it. They wish they could be someone else, try to fit into the world and try to blend in while still being in Christ. That is wrong and never works out.

You see, the world and the Word are at opposite spectrums. The Word life and the world life are two different lives.

A human can’t wish to blend into the life of a dog while still being a human.

We have been separated from the world and chosen by God. We are not governed by the same principles and maxims of those of the world. You cannot be in the world and still be in God. You are a superior breed because you have the very life of God operational in you.

You are a product of the Word and as such your mode of operation, talk pattern, dress pattern, thought pattern and everything about you have to be at variance with that of the world.

1 John 4:5-6 says,

“They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.” 

The MSG rendering says,

“These people belong to the Christ-denying world. They talk the world’s language and the world eats it up. But we come from God and belong to God. Anyone who knows God understands us and listens. The person who has nothing to do with God will, of course, not listen to us. This is another test for telling the Spirit of Truth from the spirit of deception.” 

The language of the world is totally different from that of God. The language of the world would always depict unfruitfulness and lack but the language of God knows only productivity. So for every time the world keeps speaking their language, we speak ours too.

There can never be a balance between the world and God. You are not of this world. Refuse to blend in; you were born to stand out!
