That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive. Ephesians 4:14
In some respects, Christians are to be like children. Jesus says in Matthew 18:2-3,
And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
This is because they are docile, gentle, mild, and free from ambition, pride, and haughtiness. But children have other characteristics besides simplicity and docility. They are gullible, credulous and are influenced easily by others, and led astray.

The child is ignorant, weak, and unsteady (tossed about in the nurse’s arms). Children, here, are opposed to the perfect man in the preceding verse. In these respects, Paul exhorts the Ephesians to be no longer children, but urges them to put on the characteristics of manhood; and especially to put on the firmness in religious opinion.
God expects that you quit being a child.
A child is known not by his age but by weakness, and instability in knowledge. God doesn’t want you to remain a child.
Ephesians 4:14-15 (MSG) says,
No prolonged infancies among us, please. We’ll not tolerate babes in the woods, small children who are an easy mark for impostors. God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in love–like Christ in everything. We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do.

The AMP rendering of our opening text says,
So then, we may no longer be children, tossed [like ships] to and fro between chance gusts of teaching and wavering with every changing wind of doctrine, [the prey of] the cunning and cleverness of unscrupulous men, [gamblers engaged] in every shifting form of trickery in inventing errors to mislead.
Refuse to be swayed away by every teaching. God wants you to be matured enough so you’ll be able to discern that which is and is not.
DECLARATION:
I grow daily! I refuse to remain a child; God is producing in me a matured Son.
