Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. Job 1:9-10

Every prosperity answers to an altar. When your prosperity answers to the altar of God, all your generations would speak the same language of prosperity.

Through Abraham; Isaac and Jacob spoke the same language of prosperity. From Jacob, who became Israel, we came.

This means that we are to speak the same language of prosperity that these men spoke. There is something striking about the accounts of these men. You find out that the more prosperous they became, the more they attracted enemies.

When your prosperity is not attracting enemies and the wrong eye, you are yet to prosper; your prosperity is yet to come to light.

Not until unbelievers start noticing God’s prosperity on your life, you aren’t there yet.

Today, we’ll be taking the story of Job as a case study. Job lived in a time where men had no true knowledge of God; they did not have that clear knowledge of God.

Take a look at our opening text; this was Satan, himself, confirming the blessings of God on Job through his confessions. Wow!

Job was the greatest in his time; so blessed was he (Job 1:3). But look at this, he wasn’t just blessed, his blessings were also protected.

In chapter 15, the Bible tells us of three of Job’s friends. These three were engaged in the same line of business as Job. So why weren’t they as blessed as he was? The reason is simple; Job’s prosperity wasn’t because of His business.

There was a nuance (that is, an undertone) in His prosperity. Job recognized the altar of God in his life (Job 1:5).

Take a look at verse 8 and 9; when God spoke, He made no mention about the blessing. It was the devil that mentioned the blessing. This shows that when you walk with God, the focus should never be the blessing.

Once the focus becomes the blessing, you just gave Satan a room in your life. The devil has put so many of God’s children in this way. He has made the level at which they serve God to be dependent on God’s reciprocating action. That is, they give God a wish list, and would not move further in their walk with Him until every item on the list is ticked.

Focus on service rather than the blessing. Your level of prosperity would give you a new vision.

I speak the language of prosperity. My prosperity submits to God’s altar. I am blessed!
