Thursday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 9th NOV, 2017) – Dead or alive

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live – Deuteronomy 30:19

It is important that you understand how God communicates to us, and how he sees things. Once you understand His method of communication, and see through His perspective, you would be undefeatable.

So many individuals are unaware that though they are alive, they are equally dead.

Take another look at our opening passage; do you see the highlighted part? You see, God wouldn’t tell an inanimate being to make a choice. For God to say this, it shows that He is referring to us, humans.

But the striking part of this scripture is in the decision one makes. For God to tell us to choose life, that we and our seeds may live, it means if we choose death, we and our seeds shall die. So many humans are oblivious of the fact that they have been dead all their lives.

The questions now are, “What is life?” and “How do we stay alive?” The definition of life is summed up in one word, JESUS.

John 11:25 says,

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. 

The proceeding verse goes further to say,

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? 

What a revelation! You see, Jesus is the Word of God; the infallible, authentic, and credible Word of God. Whatever He says is the truth. Jesus is not just a life; He is the life (John 14:6)! This means that for you to be living to God, you must find yourself identified in and with Christ.

Your identity and source should be in Christ. Outside Christ, all that exists is death.

No matter how attractive and wealthy a man is, once his foundation isn’t traced back to Christ, he is as good as dead; a mummified being; a walking dead; alive in the flesh, but dead to the One who’s most important.

This is why you must ensure you are identified in Him. If you are yet to do so, please turn to Page 93 of this devotional, and welcome Jesus into your heart by saying that beautiful prayer.
