Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment. Ecclesiastes 9:8
When God teaches us, it is possible for our understanding to be unfruitful. Once you do not effectively understand, you would be unable to maximize the fruitfulness and benefit of what He says.
What is God trying to communicate to us through our opening scripture? You see, your garment is synonymous with your righteousness.

Isaiah 61:10a says,
I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness…
God is telling us to pursue a righteous and holy life. You are to ensure you are spotless at all times. You are to live a perfect life!
When God says let your head lack no ointment, He doesn’t mean you should be applying hair oil at all times; No! He means that in all things you do, you are to ensure that the Holy Ghost remains with you.
In the Old Testament, the Holy Ghost was represented as an ointment. Psalms 133:2 says,
It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments.
The ointment connotes the Spirit of God. Your head would lack ointment when you do, say, eat, or wear things that would move the Spirit of God away from you. You are to pursue the things of God. Flee from things that would taint your garment, and make you spotted.
Let nothing divert your attention from the pursuit of the grace of God in your life.
To ensure your garment is not spotted, you must continually wash clean not with the blood, but with the Word of God.
Ephesians 5:26 says,
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.
The Word of God is a cleansing and sanitization agent in itself. To ensure your garment remains white, you have to constantly take up the Word of God.

The Word of God would sanctify, purify, consecrate, and make you holy. Little wonder, John 17:17 says,
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
The power for a righteous living is engrafted in the Word of God. You cannot successfully live a righteous life without making use of God’s Word.
Rigorously pursue the grace of God; only then would the Holy Ghost be able to use you.
DECLARATION:
I live a righteous and holy life. My head never lacks ointment. I pursue God’s grace!
