For if by one man’s offence, death reigned by one man; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign by one, Jesus Christ – Romans 5:17

The MSG rendering of our opening text puts it as

If death got the upper hand through one man’s wrong, can you imagine the breath taking recovery life makes, sovereign life, in those who grasp with both hands this wildly extravagant life-gift, this grand setting-everything-right, that one man Jesus Christ provides?

Through the scriptures we discover that every man was created after the similitude of the first Adam and this type of man is subject to the dictates and bondage of the devil. This man has an inferior life; his life is dictated by his blood.

But, there is another class of life fashioned after the second and last Adam (Jesus Christ), that if a man can only receive, he is delivered from the rule and bondage of the devil. This new man now has the right to decide what he wants out of life. This is the life of the new creation.

1 John 5:5 says,

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the son of God?

This is who the new creation is; the day you gave your life to the Lord, you gained victory over the world’s ways.

Little wonder the scripture says,

Whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world (1 John 5:4).

The emphasis is not just in what is born of God, but the overcoming nature. In other words, whatsoever is born of God has overcome without choice.

Our opening text tells us something important for the new man; his reign is tied to his receiving of the gift of righteousness. Have you received the gift of righteousness from God? Then you have all you need to reign victoriously.

DECLARATION:
I reign over every situation in life because I am victorious.
