Sunday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 7th JAN 2018) – Acknowledge God

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

God sees every New Year as a new ground for you to grow and make more progress than you did the previous year. This is why it is important that as you get into the year, you should learn to acknowledge God in all you do.

So many Christians are so fond of remembering God only when things don’t go as planned. So on a normal day, when everything is going well for them, they leave God backstage. Scripture is telling us today, to acknowledge God in all our ways; that is, in all our doings, God is to be acknowledged. If you fail to acknowledge God, you would be left without direction.

The Lord would only direct the paths of those who acknowledge Him.

It is important that as you begin this year, you do not depend on what you understand. Don’t depend on the clarity of your understanding; it would fail you. Rather, depending on the understanding given through the Spirit of God from the Word of God.

To acknowledge doesn’t just mean to recognize it. It means to act on the knowledge of that thing. God is telling us today, to act on the knowledge we have of Him.

You see, a lot of Christians have the knowledge of God, but they fail to act on it. Learn to act on the knowledge you have of God.

When a man acknowledges God, he does everything God wants him to do joyfully. Some Christians are like Jonah when it comes to obeying God’s instructions. They eventually do it but caused a lot of drama in the process. The mode of the doing would determine the fruit of the doing. That is, the mode of obedience would define the blessings. If you do not get the blessing, it is because you did it grudgingly.

There are two places humans would always find it difficult to acknowledge God; their emotions, and their finances. 

So many Christians place their emotions over God. So if they do not feel like being in church, they gladly seat at home. There are no emotions in service! When a man doesn’t acknowledge God in his emotions, he would surely be drifted away from Christ.

Finances are one of the ways the devil has used to rob God’s children of their blessings. God is the best businessman there is. He has all the wealth in the world. For Him to give you all He has, He needs the little of what you have. Learn to acknowledge God in your finances.

Every of your finance that wasn’t spent in a godly way is simply empowering the kingdom of darkness.

DECLARATION
I act on the knowledge of the Word of God. I am a master over my emotions. I acknowledge God in my emotions, finances, and every other part of my life.
