For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Acts 17:28

Scripture tells us in Psalms 36:9,

For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

The Word is the very source of our existence; the principle of life and motion comes from Him alone.

Without Him, we not only can do nothing, but we are also nothing. We are because He is.

Now understand this; our opening scripture didn’t say in ourselves we live, and move, and have our being; neither did it say, with him we live, and move, and have our being. Redemption and salvation are not found with Christ but in Christ.

There is an ‘IN Christ’ principle that you must understand. The proof of your existence lies in your being alive in Christ.

God considers anyone that does not have the identity of Christ to be dead and walking in darkness. Every natural man is dead to God; that is, they are nonexistent to Him. A natural man is one whose Spirit has not been quickened by God.

1 Corinthians 15:45-47 says,

And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterwards that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord of heaven.

Adam is referred to as the first man because he is the root as it were from which we spring; he was the first of his kind. Christ is the latter man, because he is the beginning of all those that are spiritual, and in him, we are all included.

Christ is called a Spirit, by the reason of God who dwells in him bodily, as Adam is called a living soul, by reason of the soul which is the best part of him. You see, everyone on earth is identified to a particular order; the first man (living souls), or the last man (a quickening Spirit).

The first man introduced death; therefore, all those that live in the order of this first man is dead to God.

A quickening spirit is a vivifying spirit; a spirit giving or imparting life. Not a being having mere vital functions, but a being who has the power of imparting life.

The natural man does not have access to the Spirit realm. God doesn’t consider something to be alive if it doesn’t exist in the spiritual realm.

Little wonder, scripture tells us in John 4:24,

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

You can’t worship God when you are not alive in Him; you must be a quickening spirit to do so. The proof of your living is determined by the state of your Spirit.

DECLARATION
Lord, I choose you today. In you, I live, and move, and have my being. My Spirit is quickened; I am alive in you!
