Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 1:2

Success is a place, prosperity is a Spirit. So many individuals honestly desire to get to that place called success. But very few get there eventually, because they fail to understand the processes of success. You see, success is not and would never be a surprise. Never would you hear of a man who became successful and was shocked about it.

For success to have come his way, it means he took certain actions, made crucial decisions, and probably sacrificed something (be it his time, energy or finances). They were certain steps he took to get to that place of success.

For the next few days, we would be looking at vital ingredients to make you succeed in whatever you
do this new year. A new year is a new ground for you to make progress. Through our opening text, we can see that it is God’s intention for us to prosper as His Sons.

The same way our earthly parents desire for us to be prosperous, God also craves for our prosperity. But understand this; your prosperity in life (not just financial prosperity) is tied to the prosperity of your soul. That is, as your soul’s prosperity grows, your prosperity also increases.

Joshua 1:8 says,

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Take a look at the verse above; notice the phrase “…good success”? You see, God is a master communicator. When He says go left, He invariably means don’t go right. For God to use the phrase, good success, it means that success could also be termed bad.

When the undertone of your success cannot be traced back to God, it means that it is bad success. A success is good if and only if it is identified in Christ; that is, its source could be traced back to God. All prosperity submits to an altar.

If your success does not submit to the altar of God, then it is bad. You don’t have to go through crooked and dishonest means to be successful. Once you go through deceitful means to be successful, your prosperity would come with sorrow.

I diligently go through the process of success. My prosperity submits to the altar of God. I do not use fraudulent and foul means to prosper.

Proverbs 10:22, Matthew 6:33
