Saturday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 10th Feb. 2018) – Embrace Correction!

My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD;… For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son [in whom] he delighteth. Proverbs 3:11-12

It is so pitiable to see Christians who spurn, loathe and deride chastening. This is one of the ways the devil uses to destroy Christians. If the devil wants to destroy a man, he makes him disregard
corrections.

You see, no garden has ever become very beautiful without pruning. The pruning is what brings out the beauty of the garden.

In the same vein, chastening is what brings out the beauty of a Christian. To chastise means to correct with an act. Take a look at what the MSG translation of our opening text says,

But don’t, dear friend, resent GOD’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that GOD corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this.

Look at David, scripture says he was an after God’s own heart. One of the reasons why David was this loved by God was because he loved correction; he appreciated it.

The devil knows how important chastening is that is why he would do everything to make a Christian miss the chastening of God by despising the correction. Never get weary or tired of receiving correction. God does not chastise with sickness, disease, poverty or an infirmity.

God chastises with His words. God’s Word is a priced treasure: it is indeed valuable to those who understand what it is to them. For any man that despises chastening, God withdraws His word from such a man. Oh, little wonder Jesus faced the greatest chastisement ever.

He was separated from God. So never reject corrections. The day you start doing so is the day your life starts getting destroyed.

DECLARATION
I embrace corrections at all times. I prove my Sonship, even as I accept corrections. I am a loved Son of my Father. Hallelujah!
