Sunday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 11th FEB. 2018) – The way of the world

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father, but is of the world. 1 John 2:16

The NLT rendering of our opening text says,

For the world offers only a craving for Physical desire, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the father but are from this world.

The Word of God is precise in its accuracy. It is amazing how the circumstances of our lives are summed up in the Word of God.

When a child of God does not value and appreciate his Bible, he would live his life without clear direction. This is why the Psalmist said,

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

Psalm 119:105. In the preceding verse he says,

Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

You see, your ability to keep and do the Word and will of God, is not for yourself.

Look at Jeremiah 10:23

O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: It is not in a man that walketh to direct his steps.

This declaration came from a heart that learnt from experience and revelation.

How many of Gods children have recognized this in their lives today? Do you know that your way
is not in yourself? Do you know that you cannot direct your steps?

The truth of life is that no man works by himself. Every man is controlled by something. Whether he realizes it or not, every man is influenced and directed by something.

A child of God that is directed by the Word of God is handing over the control of the affairs of His life to the devil. The Psalmist said,

Through thy precepts I get understanding…

Notice he didn’t say ‘HAVE’ but ‘GET’ understanding.

This is because understanding is not a mental function; it’s a Spirit and Word function for you. Understanding is not something you have in yourself, but something you get from the Word of God. This is why Our Lord Jesus says to search the scriptures because that’s what you ought to think of. John 5:39. And until you realize this, you would walk without convictions.

DECLARATION
I do not work by my senses, I think through the Word of God. I understand from the Word of God.I have direction every day of my life. Hallelujah!
