“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” 1 John 2:16
Yesterday, we saw that the way of a man is not in himself. That means, when a child of God decides to ignore the way of the Word of God, he would walk in darkness. Because the Word of God is the light, and lamp to our life’s path, the Word of God for you means direction.

The message in our opening text is so important for us as God’s children. As the end draws near, the God-begotten have got to walk circumspectly as unto the Lord. Let our opening text be a litmus test for you today!
If you are consistent with the study of this devotional, you would notice that I often love reading scriptures through the Amplified and Message rendering after reading them through the King James Version.
Look at the Amplified rendering of our Opening text
For all that is in the world-the lust and sensual craving of the flesh and the lust and longing of the eyes and the boastful pride of life [pretentious confidence in the stability of earthly things]-these do not come from the Father, but are from the world.

And The Message rendering says,
Practically everything that goes on in the world-wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important-has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out
If you can honestly identify yourself in any of the categories mentioned above, then you have to make your way back to the Lord. Know that God is not against you wanting to achieve more for yourself and His kingdom. He is against you going outside the boundaries of His Word and Principles.
One of the greatest truths a Child of God can know is ; GOD DOES NOT PROSPER YOU AT THE EXPENSE OF HIS KINGDOM, OR HIS WORK. He always prospers you for His kingdom. Because through Prosperity shall His cities be spread abroad.
That means that kingdom expansion comes by the prosperity of God’s Children. For God gives the word, but great is the company of those that publishes it.
DECLARATION
I am focused on my eternal reward. I refuse to get carried away by the world’s ways. I am a son!
