Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Matthew 5:14

The proceeding verses of our opening text says,

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

How glorious! We have been commissioned as Christians to lead the world out of its dark state. For every ethnos you find yourself in, you are the light there.

Light gives direction, it illuminates and expels darkness. This is what your life should be. Your life ought to give direction to those that are lost and expel every unfruitful work(s) of darkness.

The AMP rendering of Matthew 5:16 says,

Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.

The underlined part of the above text shows that it is your responsibility to let your light shine, not the Father.

Scripture tells us in 1 John 1:5,

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

In order to ensure that your light keeps getting brighter, you have got to get radiance from the source; that is, stay connected to the source.

It is like conduction. The more you relate/fellowship with the Father, the more you become more like Him. As you spend time with God, your light gets brighter.

It is the heart of the Father that He is glorified through us. God can only be glorified through our good works. For men to see our good works, our light has got to keep shining.

I am the light of the world, I am a city set on a hill; I cannot be hidden. The glorious light of the Gospel of Christ shines through my life. Hallelujah!
