Thursday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 5th July, 2018) – Be prosperous! (5)

The slothful man roasteth not that which he took hinting: but he substance of a diligent man is precious. Proverbs 12:27.

The AMP rendering puts the latter part of our verse of the day as,

…but the diligent man gets precious possessions.

You see, God is a God of principles. In the realms of the Spirit, principles precede power. This means that a man who observes principles would certainly get the reward of those principles.

Diligence is a principle of the spirit.

A man who is diligent in what he does would always get the reward. A diligent man receives precious possession.

The hand of the diligent man never lacks. You see, diligence goes beyond working with one’s hands. Diligence goes as far as affecting the mind.

Proverbs 21:5 says,

The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of everyone that is hasty only to want.

A diligent man understands the importance of planning.

The MSG rendering of the above text says,

Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run, hurry and scurry puts you further behind.

A man that plans can never get stucked. This is because he sees far ahead.

Planning is a character of an excellent mind. Take a look at Joseph. Scripture records that Joseph so planned that Egypt had enough to feed the entire world for a period of 7 years. Wow! 7 long years!

Genesis 41:54 says,

And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph has said; and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.
