Nigerian Referees was snubbed as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) released a 27-man list of the initial referees chosen to officiate the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
The 2019 AFCON will commence in Egypt between June 21 and July 19.
The list of referees saw the presence of 20 different nationalities from across the continent, with referees like Mostafa Gharbal and Bacary Gassama making the cut.
Three referees from host country also made the list, namely Gehad Grisha, Mahmoud El-Banna, and Amin Omar.
Grisha have officiated in the last four AFCONS, as well as the 2018 World Cup, when he took charge of the England vs Panama game in the group-stages.
On the other hand, Amin Omar and El-Banna have never had the chance to officiate in any major tournaments and the 2019 AFCON could be their first-ever one.
Once again Nigerian referees will not whistle at the Africa Cup of Nations as it followed a decade long tradition of Nigerian referees missing out on FIFA and CAF tournaments.
