2019 AFCON: 'I'm delighted because I'm playing', says Mikel Super Eagles of Nigeria captain John Mikel Obi has confirmed his return to the squad ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of nations taking place in Egypt.

Mikel whose return to the squad was in doubt, told AOIFootball that he had a private meeting with the team’s manager and has decided to feature at the continent’s biggest soccer fiesta when it kicks off in June.

“I met with Coach Rohr and we discussed his plans for the team in the forthcoming tournament.” he said

“All I can say is that I am delighted and happy because I am coming to the Nations Cup.”

Nigeria will kick-off their AFCON campaign with their first match against Burundi in June 22, 2019. They will also face Guinea and Madagascar in group B which people have termed a easy group for the Super Eagles.
