The Publisher of SaharaReporters and Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) Omoyele Sowore was arrested by some security agents believed to be Personnel of the State Security Sevice (SSS).
Sowore posted a distress tweet exactly 1:25 am to announce that the DSS has invaded his house which proves he was taken into custody in the early hours of Saturday.
“DSS invades Sowore’s” his tweet reads.
A statement was sent to the online news platform on Saturday, August 3 by an association of the publisher which reads:
Operatives of the Department of State Services has arrested pro-democracy activist and the convener of #RevolutionNow Protest Omoyele Sowore.
It was gathered that his phone must have been seized while trying to raise alarm and all efforts to reach him are futile.
The arrest and detention were assumed to be connected to #RevolutionNow, upcoming protest against bad governance in Nigeria scheduled for August 5.
