IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is in agreement with Michael Hunter.

Both boxers believe former WBA champion Alexander Povetkin will overcome Dillian Whyte on Saturday night at Matchroom’s Fight Camp in Brentwood.

Joshua holds victories over both men, with a seven-round stoppage of Whyte in 2015 and a seven-round stoppage of Povetkin in 2018.

In both fights, Joshua was buzzed early on and overcame the scares to break his opponents down.

Whyte is staking his mandatory status under the WBC.

The winner of the contest is going to be line to fight world champion Tyson Fury, who faces Deontay Wilder in a trilogy fight on the tentative date of December 19th.

“I know that AJ rates Dillian Whyte very highly, I know that Dillian Whyte rates AJ very highly, but they’ll always be that fizz between them,” Hearn told Sky Sports.

“I don’t think AJ is the kind of guy to hope that Dillian Whyte will lose on Saturday. He actually, I think, believes that Alexander Povetkin will win on Saturday. I had a conversation with him the other day.

“This is a massive banana skin fight for Dillian Whyte. I don’t think Tyson Fury really feels too deeply about it, but of course, in boxing, there’s so much bitterness.”

In a recent interview, Joshua warned that Povetkin was a very dangerous opponent with a lot of skill.

“Everyone has issues in training, if he [Whyte] trained right, he will come through,” Joshua told Sky Sports.

“He is a fighter, Dillian. But Povetkin is a seriously skilled heavyweight – an Olympic gold medallist, a world champion whose only losses were against [Wladimir] Klitschko and me.

“He’s good, a good fighter who hasn’t been on the losing end much so hasn’t got used to that feeling. He still has the hunger and will go in against Dillian thinking he can win. It will go to a points decision.”
