Sylvester Stallone on Tyson vs Jones: It’s matching a 22 against a 45

Actor Sylvester Stallone, who is known to most boxing fans for his on-screen role as boxer Rocky Balboa in seven motion pictures, gave his take on the upcoming clash between former world champions Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.

The fight is scheduled for November 28, on pay-per-view, from Los Angeles. The fight will be staged as an exhibition over the eight round distance.

Tyson, 54-years-old and former undisputed heavyweight champion has been out of the ring since 2005 – when he was knocked out by journeyman Kevin McBride.

The 51-year-old Jones, who captured world titles at 160, 168 and 175 – picked a heavyweight title in his only contest in the weight division.

Jones has been far more active in the last 15 years, with his last fight taking place in 2018.

Most bookies have Jones, at one time regarded as the best fighter in the world, as the favorite to win the fight.

Tyson has looked dangerous in the short training clips that his team released to the media, but most oddsmakers are not convinced that his stamina will still be there after a few rounds play out.

Stallone expects size to play a role in the outcome.

While he credits Jones as being a very skilled fighter, he feels Tyson is too big, too strong and has too much firepower in his punches.

“Well, let’s put it this way,” Stallone said to TMZ. “What do you think is going to work? A 22 against a 45???”

“Roy Jones is a great, great fighter, but it’s just a matter of physics.”

In order to stay out of the danger, Stallone would advise Jones to stay on the move at all times to wear down the stamina of Tyson.

“[He has to] keep moving. You’re talking about, I mean — everyone knows it. Mike Tyson is a wrecking ball,” Stallone said.
